Worlds Longest Hockey Game – 2014 Hockey Marathon

hockey-marathon In May 2012, the Oilympics team made history with a 246-hour hockey game, in order to raise funds and awareness for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Childhood Cancer Program. They succeeded in their goal and set a new record for the world’s longest hockey game while raising over $1.5M in much needed funds for the hospital.

Just two years later, the players wanted to do it all over again.

CSI was a Silver Sponsor for the 2014 Hockey Marathon for the Kids which took place at the Chestermere Recreational Centre on May 4-14 2014. The goal was bigger, the record longer, and their determination even stronger!

CSI generously donated $10,000 to this worthwhile cause, which is going to improve medical treatment for children via Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.

This year the Hockey Marathon achieved their goals raising over $2 Million for Alberta Children’s Hospital with a portion of the proceeds going towards Alberta Flood Relief. In the process the players also set the Guinness record for the World’s Longest Hockey Game by playing 248 consecutive hours.

Please check out the 2min video previewing the 2014 game and follow the successful 2014 effort by the way of media coverage by The Calgary Sun and Global News.
