Hockey Marathon for the Kids
Worlds Longest Hockey Game – 2014 Hockey Marathon
In May 2012, the Oilympics team made history with a 246-hour hockey game, in order to raise funds and awareness for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Childhood Cancer Program. They succeeded in their goal and set a new record for the world’s longest hockey game while raising over $1.5M in much needed funds for the hospital.
Just two years later, the players wanted to do it all over again.
CSI was a Silver Sponsor for the 2014 Hockey Marathon for the Kids which took place at the Chestermere Recreational Centre on May 4-14 2014. The goal was bigger, the record longer, and their determination even stronger!
CSI generously donated $10,000 to this worthwhile cause, which is going to improve medical treatment for children via Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation.
This year the Hockey Marathon achieved their goals raising over $2 Million for Alberta Children’s Hospital with a portion of the proceeds going towards Alberta Flood Relief. In the process the players also set the Guinness record for the World’s Longest Hockey Game by playing 248 consecutive hours.
